Foundation & History: Originally founded in 1893 as VfB Leipzig

➔ Co-founder of the German Football Association (DFB) in 1900 and the first German champion in 1903.

Since 1966 known as 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig; in 2021 officially reunified with VfB Leipzig under the name 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig – Verein für Bewegungsspiele e.V.

Fans & Stadium:
The home ground is the Bruno-Plache-Stadion in Leipzig-Probstheida. As one of the oldest sports venues in Leipzig, partly under historical preservation, it has a capacity of up to 11,000 spectators who regularly support the blue and yellow team. Over 3,000 of them are active club members.


 

Current Development:
Since 2024, under head coach Jochen Seitz and sporting director Toni Wachsmuth, the club has been performing successfully in the Regionalliga Nordost, leading the table strongly in the 2024/25 season.
